圣贤后裔齐聚卢旺达

中国使用字辈谱的家族和姓氏十分普遍。古代圣人孔子家族的字辈为：“希言公彦承，宏闻贞尚衍，兴毓传纪广，昭宪庆繁祥，令德维垂佑，钦绍念显扬，建道敦安定，懋修肇彝常，裕文焕景瑞，永锡世绪昌。”值得一提的是，孔子及其三位杰出弟子，即后人称说的儒家四圣孟子、曾子、颜子均使用相同字辈，以示师徒情谊。这样，只要看到四大“圣裔”后代姓名中间的字，就可知道他们的辈分，在华夏众多姓氏中，唯有孔、孟、曾、颜四姓如此。
巧合的是，在非洲中部的卢旺达基加利教育学院孔子学院，竟然聚齐了孔孟曾三圣的后裔。
本人是孔子第76代孙，现任基加利教育学院孔子学院中方院长，祖籍山东曲阜。
接手工作之后，我并没有急于去做汉语推广工作，而是虚心向外方院长和老师学习卢旺达语，和大家交朋友。短短几个星期后，我已经可以用卢旺达语进行日常对话。随后，在卢方院长的配合下启动了《卢旺达语-汉语词典》编写工程，该词典一方面是为了给更多的卢旺达民众学习汉语提供便利，另一方面也为了在卢华人更好地与当地人交流沟通。除此之外，我还对卢旺达民间传说和史诗进行系统的整理和研究，同时对卢旺达历史文化遗产进行梳理和翻译。这些书都采用双语编写，目的是为了体现孔子学院不仅仅在卢旺达传播中华文化，同时也将卢旺达文化介绍给中国人民。
通过这些活动，卢方院长亲身感受到孔子学院在文化交流中的双向功能，因而积极配合工作。目前孔子学院老师齐心协力，学生人数不断增多，汉语推广事业在这里得到快速发展。
曾广煜老师是曾子第69代孙，于2009年3月来到卢旺达担任汉语教师。他不仅积极组织参与孔子学院开展的各项活动，还将中华文化融合到汉语课堂中。他主讲的“中国改革开放三十年的变迁”极大地鼓励了卢旺达青年学子对自己国家和自身将来发展的信心；他演奏的中国竹笛展示了中国乐器的精巧，吸引了其他国家乐器爱好者的兴趣；他教授的太极拳曾受到联合国驻卢旺达机构的邀请并登台表演，作为“联合国日”中展示中国的节目。他还根据自己的经验编写了《孔子学院中方来卢人员工作生活手册》，为孔子学院的继任者提供了宝贵的第一手资料。
孟焕芬老师是河北邢台人，她的辈分是“繁”字，为孟子的74代孙。她原来在伊朗德黑兰大学孔子学院做志愿者，2011年3月底转入我院。她性格开朗，为人诚恳，热爱对外汉语教学专业。
在孔子学院工作的还有周芳萍（北宋儒学大师周敦颐之后裔），郑弯月（东汉经学大师郑玄之后裔），蔡燕（东汉儒学大师蔡邕之后裔），程涛（北宋儒学大师程颐之后裔）。
我想，在分布在世界各地的众多孔子学院中，像这样聚集如此多中国圣贤后裔的实属少见，也算是我们的一大特色吧。希望在龙年，我们这些中国圣贤的后裔在非洲之心——卢旺达有更大的作为。

The Descendants of Confucius and His Four Outstanding Students in Rwanda

A traditional Chinese name normally has three characters, the first one is family name which used to differentiate other families, the middle one is generation name which used to differentiate different generations within the same family, and the last one is given name which used to identify oneself with others. Generation name, variously zibei, is one of the characters in a traditional Chinese name, and is so called because each member of a generation (i.e. siblings and cousins of the same generation) shares that character, unlike surnames or given names. Important examples are the generation poems of the Kong (Confucius) family.
Furthermore, three outstanding students of Confucius, Mencius, Yanzi, Zengzi, their descendants use the same generation names with Confucius; that is to say, the four families share the same generation names with different family names, they are one family to some extent. This is unique in Chinese even the world’s history. What’s amazing is that the descendants of four families have actually gathered in Rwanda, they all work in Confucius Institute at Kigali Institute of Education.
Kong Lingyuan, the 76th descendant of Confucius, is Chinese director of Confucius Institute at Kigali Institute of Education. He came to work in Kigali in January 2011, when his mother just had been done knees replacement surgery. To be in a dilemma, one is his mother need to be taken care, another is Confucius Institute need him. After several days of t consideration, he decided to ask his bother to take care of his mother in Jiangsu province. He came and worked in Kigali before the Chinese traditional New Year when all members of family should get together.
After holding the post of Chinese director, he found the problems which existed between the former Chinese director and foreign director. In his opinion, cross-culture communication cannot be based on imposing their point of view. That was why he learnt Kinyarwanda instead of teaching Chinese at the beginning. A few weeks later, he could communicate with local people in Kinyarwanda, and then, he launched Kinyarwanda-Chinese Dictionary project with the help of foreign director. The dictionary, on the one hand, is to facilitate more Rwandese who learning Chinese in Rwanda, on the other hand, to help Chinese people to communicate with local people in a better way. Therefore, whether the Chinese Embassy, Chinese-funded enterprises or local people are look forward to this dictionary. He also did research and interpretation on “Rwanda Legends and Folklore “and” The Heritage of Rwanda ". They are also written in bilingual way, the purpose of doing so is also to reflect the Confucius Institute’s aim, not only spreading Chinese culture in Rwanda, but also introducing Rwandan culture to the Chinese people. Currently, those projects have been completed in original data collection and the first draft stage was accomplished.
Through these activities, the foreign director realized that Confucius Institute aimed at cultural and education exchanges. She realized that her own language and culture were paid much attention too, which also changed her mind from negative to positive on promoting Chinese language and cultural. Currently, Confucius Institute at Kigali Institute of Education runs very well, more and more people are interested in learning Chinese.
Zeng Guangyu, the 70th descendant of Zengzi, is a Chinese lecturer of Confucius Institute at Kigali Institute of Education. He worked as a Chinese teacher since March 2009 when Confucius Institute was founded. He taught the cultural by personal example as well as verbal instruction to change and influence people unobtrusively and imperceptibly. His speech “Be Optimistic about China's Economy” encouraged Rwanda youth about their country and themselves, which was praised by the Chinese ambassador as well. He played the Chinese flute in some ceremonies and that had attacked other’s interests, he had taught Taiji which was invited to perform on UN Day by the UN Agency in Rwanda, and that was recognized a symbol of China.
He is always an example of Chinese cultural; he is ready to help others. When the foreign director hurt her leg, he gave her Chinese medicine; when the assistant wanted to be thin and healthy, he gave him Chinese tea and Chinese traditional medicine knowledge; when the secretary did not know how to operate electrical machine, he taught her until she could do that herself. He also helped some Rwanda government office to fix machine which sent from China, helped people to recognize Chinese instructions in supermarket. For other Chinese people who will work in Rwanda and in CIKIE, he shared his experience by writing a booklet named “Handbook for Chinese Teachers Who Will Work in CIKIE”, the booklet is a useful guide for the people who want to know Rwanda, especially for the one who is going to work in Rwanda.
Yan Chuisi, she is Rwandese. Her real name is YANZIGIYE Beatrice, we gave her the Chinese name Yan Chuisi base on the pronunciation, and she is the 79th descendant of Yanhui according to the generation names. She got her Doctor degree of literature in France. She is gentle and graceful, and works as foreign director of Confucius Institute at Kigali Institute of Education. She is also a lead of Rwanda Patriotic Front in Kigali Institute of Education, she come to Confucius Institute to work every day even though she is very busy. In particular, at the end of last year, she suffered a car accident unfortunately and her knees were seriously injured. She works as usual with her crutches after discharging from hospital
Meng Huanfen, her generation name is Fan actually, is the 74th descendant of Mencius. She worked as a Chinese volunteer teacher in Confucius Institute at Tehran University of Iran, and became a teacher in Kigali from March 2011. She is the big sister of other volunteer teachers here.
The descendants of four outstanding sages gathered together in one Confucius Institute, which makes Confucius Institute at Kigali Institute of Education outstanding in the world as well.
