My Rwandan name is KWIHANGANA DAVID and my Chinese name is大卫.
I am a student in University of Rwanda, College of Education (UR CE), in faculty of Mathematics and physics with Education. Nowadays I am in second year (level2). Up to now I have studied Chinese language for one year and half so far.
When I was in secondary school I heard that in Rwanda there are more international language taught especially in universities apart from faculty language and I decided to find even one of them. So far I got scholarship in University of Rwanda College of Education on November 2018.
I attended university for first day (induction week) during that day I heard announcement for new students who want to join Chinese language. From this I realized that my dream I had for so long time will come true. I was hurried in finding requirements (ID,student card, E mail …) to be allowed to attend that language.
At 6:00 pm my first attendance in Chinese class with more and more students who were waiting for Chinese teacher. This time our class was too small compared to those students. But by the time goes more and more give up and some remain, I was obviously amazed by the appearance of Chinese character（汉字）with my teacher’s motivation, I tried to memorize those character step by step.
As you know faculty of mathematics and physical is very complicated as compared to other subjects even my classmate used to advise to me that it will be difficult for me to carry those two (university subjects and Chinese language) contrary to that I was not influenced by their talk.
I continued to attend Chinese class after university module. After 4 months I was really engaged well in Chinese language.
Our Chinese teacher used to tell us that when we try to study well that language after there are more opportunity waiting for us over the world. Example: (scholarship, or other related to job,) after I heard that, I believed that I will be one of those who can get those opportunities.
Also my teacher reminded us that on coming months there are exam (HSK), I hardly continued to memorize by writing, by speaking with our classmates, only for one year (1) I applied for HSK level 3 (HSK三级). On December 1, 2019 I sat for exam. This is for my first time when results came out I got 281 marks out of 300. On this Time, I fully believed that nothing impossible under the sky, also this motivate me and made me work hard so that I could pass same remaining levels without hitch.
We were supposed to have HSK level 4(HSK四级) on march21, 2020 but unexpectedly due to this virus, our exam was postponed for us to stay home.
During this stay at home day to day I am working hard so that to ensure that I will be ready for coming exams. In my life I really like to read more international news especially political news so in order to achieve this I have started to read news in Chinese language for same international medias like (CNN in Chinese language, Xinhua News Agency.) Even if my Chinese language level is still low but this help me to expand my knowledge.
Beside this, my attendance to Chinese language bring to me new life style (working hard)and also Chinese culture, Chinese martial arts (Taiji, Gong Fu,) this makes me believe that Chinese language will be opportunity for us in new life style, in job, etc.

Briefly I want to thank Confucius Institute to bring for us this modern language not only Confucius Institute but also my Chinese language teacher who work hard days and nights for us to get more knowledge also I want to thank my lovely classmates for working to gather in order to achieve our goals in Chinese language, I have more grateful for them.
